NUGA 2025: Yilwatda champions support for Tinubu’s Youth Agenda, says games will be historic
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed strong backing for the 2025 Nigeria University Games (NUGA), emphasizing its crucial role in advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s youth empowerment agenda.
Yilwatda made the remarks during a strategic meeting in Abuja with the Chairman of Royal CBS Group and billionaire business mogul, Chief Khalifah Onu of Kefiano Autos. The discussions centered on fostering collaboration between the government and the private sector to make the 2025 NUGA Games, which will be hosted by the University of Jos (UNIJOS), one of the most successful editions in the history of the competition.
Dr. Yilwatda stressed that the games were more than just a sporting event, aligning with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope vision, aimed at engaging the youth, fostering national unity, and identifying emerging sports talents from across Nigeria.
“The 2025 NUGA Games are not just about competition; they are about national renewal through youth energy and excellence. The APC-led government will give its full support as part of the President’s commitment to empower young Nigerians and promote unity through sports,” he said.
He went on to describe sports as a powerful tool for national integration and leadership development, expressing confidence that the upcoming games would be both historic and record-breaking.
“We are determined to make NUGA 2025 one of the most successful games ever held in Nigeria. Our youths remain central to the Renewed Hope vision, and through platforms like NUGA, we will continue to invest in their potential,” he added.
Billionaire businessman Chief Khalifah Onu, in his remarks, praised Dr. Yilwatda’s leadership and expressed strong private sector support for the event.
“The 2025 NUGA Games will not only attract major investments but will also showcase the best of Nigeria’s youthful talent to the world,” Onu said.
The 2025 NUGA Games, which are expected to feature thousands of student-athletes from universities nationwide, will cover various sporting disciplines aimed at promoting excellence, unity, and youth development in Nigeria.
