Tinubu names Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff
President Bola Tinubu has approved a major shake-up in the leadership of Nigeria’s Armed Forces as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation’s security framework.
In the new appointments, Rear Admiral I. Abbas has been named the Chief of Naval Staff. Similarly, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke has been appointed the Chief of Air Staff, General W. Shaibu becomes the new Chief of Army Staff, while General Olufemi Oluyede takes over as the Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa.
The move is viewed as a strategic step by the Federal Government to enhance coordination among the military services and improve the overall effectiveness of national security operations.
