WAEC dismisses rumor of reducing subjects for 2026 WASSCE
West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has dismissed reports claiming that candidates for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be limited to fewer subjects.
In a statement released on Monday, the examination body said the reports were false and misleading, urging students, parents, and schools to ignore them.
WAEC clarified that the approved number of subjects remains the same and no new policy has been introduced to reduce candidates’ subject options.
The council assured the public of its commitment to maintaining fairness and transparency in all examinations across member countries.
- It also warned against relying on unverified information circulating on social media, advising the public to always confirm details from WAEC’s official platforms.
