APC knocks Adeleke over nightclub visits; Governor dismisses allegations as propaganda
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to stop frequenting nightclubs and concentrate on governing the state.
In a statement issued by its Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, the party claimed the governor spends more time visiting nightclubs across the Southwest than addressing critical governance issues at home.
The APC lamented that students in state-owned institutions are left to contend with high and unnecessary school fees, while the governor allegedly indulges in nightlife activities.
“Unfortunately, while Governor Adeleke should have settled down to address the plights of the students and people of the state, he is visiting different nightclubs, dancing from one state capital to another, frittering away resources that should have been deployed to fund education and other key sectors of the economy,” the statement read.
The party further criticized Adeleke’s recent appearance at a music concert in Ibadan, saying he became the subject of ridicule after dancing “like an untamed video vixen,” comparing the situation to “Nero escaping and fiddling in Antium while Rome was burning.”
In response, Governor Adeleke dismissed the APC’s claims, accusing the opposition of running out of ideas amid low popularity ratings.
Through his Spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke said, “I have judiciously managed state resources with the particular target of meeting the crucial needs of the state in the areas of health, infrastructure, education, business financing, cooperative empowerment, sports development, agriculture, technology development, workers’ welfare, and pension management.”
He described the APC’s statement as “a devilish fabrication, a mischievous propaganda, and a failed attempt to rubbish a brilliant performance of the current administration as attested to by local and international stakeholders.”
