BREAKING: Rivers Speaker, 15 Lawmakers dump PDP for APC
The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, has formally defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), leading 15 other lawmakers in a mass departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The defection, announced during Friday’s plenary, marked a major political shift in the state legislature, with the lawmakers citing deepening internal crises within the PDP as the reason for their exit.
Proceedings were underway as the members made their declaration, a move that immediately altered the power dynamics in the Assembly and signalled a fresh round of political realignments in Rivers State.
