NMDPRA cautions Nigerians as festive season nears, assures steady fuel supply
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has advised Nigerians to avoid panic-buying and hoarding of petroleum products ahead of the Yuletide celebrations.
Speaking in Osun State, the NMDPRA Coordinator, Kunle Adeyemo, assured residents that there is adequate fuel supply to sustain demand throughout the festive period. He explained that panic-buying usually leads to artificial scarcity, long queues, and unnecessary tension at filling stations.
Adeyemo warned petroleum marketers against hoarding products or engaging in sharp practices, stressing that enforcement teams have been deployed across the state to monitor compliance. He added that any filling station found sabotaging distribution or inflating prices would face strict sanctions.
He urged citizens to remain calm and purchase only the quantity of fuel they need, noting that steady supply arrangements have been put in place nationwide.
The authority reiterated its commitment to ensuring fair pricing, uninterrupted distribution, and transparency within the petroleum downstream sector throughout the Christmas and New Year season.
