JUST-IN: APC leadership visits Gov Bala Mohammed amid ADC planned defection

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other party leaders, have paid a private visit to Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed.

The delegation held a closed-door meeting with the governor at the Government House in Bauchi, sparking fresh speculation over shifting political alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Although details of the meeting were not made public, sources suggested that the discussions may be linked to ongoing political realignments at both state and national levels.

The visit comes less than 24 hours after Bala Mohammed hosted top figures of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where indications emerged that he might be considering a move away from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mohammed is currently one of the few governors aligned with a faction of the PDP that is grappling with internal divisions. His camp is said to be struggling to keep pace with a rival bloc reportedly backed by Nyesom Wike, which recently held a national convention following a series of court rulings affirming its legitimacy in the party’s leadership tussle.

The latest high-level engagements underscore intensifying political consultations across party lines, as key actors position themselves ahead of what is expected to be a fiercely contested 2027 electoral cycle.
