Funke Akindele weighs in on BBL procedures, urges caution
Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has shared her thoughts on Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgeries during an appearance on The Morayo Show, hosted by Morayo Afolabi-Brown.
Akindele expressed admiration for the aesthetic appeal of the procedure, saying, “I must say, I love to see beautiful women with beautiful bodies. I actually like it. I am not talking about the excess ones but the normal ones. I want to do it but I don’t have the mind.”
While acknowledging the attractiveness of BBL, she cautioned that anyone considering the surgery should carefully weigh the risks. “I am not against it. If you want to enhance your beauty, go ahead, but be careful,” Akindele added.
Her remarks come amid increased public attention on BBL procedures, which have become highly discussed within the entertainment and influencer space. Experts have repeatedly warned of the risks associated with the surgery, particularly when performed multiple times or under unregulated conditions.
The controversy surrounding BBL surgeries intensified following the death of Nigerian social media influencer Elena Jessica Nkwopara, popularly known as Elena, who passed away due to complications after a second corrective BBL procedure in Lagos. Reports indicate that she experienced serious difficulties either during or immediately after the surgery.
Akindele’s comments highlight the delicate balance between aesthetic desire and personal safety, encouraging prospective patients to prioritise caution and informed decision-making when considering cosmetic enhancements.
