ADC in disarray, lacks structure to survive crisis — Bwala
A presidential aide, Daniel Bwala, has criticised leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying the party’s internal structure makes it incapable of withstanding political challenges.
Bwala made the remarks in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, reacting to the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw recognition of the faction led by former Senate President, David Mark.
According to him, the ongoing crisis within the party validates warnings he had issued months earlier about looming instability.
“I said this six months ago… here are the facts,” Bwala wrote, as he described the party as deeply divided and lacking cohesion.
He criticised what he termed excessive ambition among members, arguing that a party where many individuals are focused on personal presidential aspirations cannot build a viable opposition.
Bwala also faulted the foundation of the party’s current leadership structure, describing it as a “hostile takeover” that cannot endure political pressure.
The presidential aide further accused the party of lacking ideological consistency, alleging that frequent defections among its members undermine its credibility and direction.
He questioned the motives of the party’s leadership, claiming that desperation and self-interest could hinder its ability to effectively govern if given the opportunity.
Bwala concluded that the ADC’s current turmoil reflects deeper structural weaknesses, insisting that the party is now more confused than at the start of its political journey.
The ADC has been engulfed in a leadership tussle in recent weeks, with multiple factions laying claim to control amid legal disputes and INEC’s position on the crisis.
