The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested a man identified as Nuhu Dahiru for allegedly impersonating an EFCC operative and defrauding members of the public of N3 million.

The anti-graft agency disclosed this on Monday in a post on its official X account, saying Dahiru was arrested by operatives of its Maiduguri Zonal Directorate.

According to the EFCC, the suspect was apprehended at Tashan Bama, along Bama Road, Maiduguri, Borno State, following credible intelligence that he had been posing as an officer of the commission to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.

The commission alleged that Dahiru obtained N3 million under false pretences through the impersonation.

It also disclosed that N3 million was recovered from the suspect at the point of arrest.

The EFCC stated, “The suspect was arrested in Tashan Bama, along Bama Road, Maiduguri, Borno State, following credible intelligence indicating that he had been parading himself as an officer of the EFCC, and thereby defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.”

The commission said Dahiru would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
