BREAKING: INEC declares Adeleke winner, defeats Oyebamiji by 66,252 votes

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, winner of the 2026 governorship election.

Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, secured 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 444,815 votes.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, came a distant third with 17,180 votes.

The final result gives Adeleke a winning margin of 66,252 votes over Oyebamiji.

A total of 2,339,544 voters were registered for the election, while 1,010,684 voters were accredited.

According to the final figures announced by INEC, 985,079 votes were valid, while 20,721 votes were rejected, bringing the total votes cast to 1,005,800.

The declaration followed the completion of the collation of results from the state’s 30 local government areas.

With the victory, Adeleke secures another term in office after defeating the APC candidate in a closely contested election.

The result also confirms the trend recorded during the collation process, with Adeleke maintaining a lead over Oyebamiji across several local government areas.
