Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued six kidnapped victims after engaging suspected terrorists along the Wasagu-Ayu Road in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The rescue operation was carried out on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, following credible intelligence on suspected terrorist activity around Mehinua Village.

According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops were swiftly mobilised to the area after receiving the intelligence.

He said the troops made contact with the suspected terrorists and engaged them in a gun battle, forcing the assailants to flee and abandon their victims.

“Acting on the intelligence, troops swiftly mobilised to the scene, where they made contact with the terrorists and engaged them with a high volume of fire,” Danja said.

He added that the prompt intervention of the troops forced the terrorists to retreat, allowing the six kidnapped victims to be rescued unharmed.

The rescued victims, alongside the vehicle recovered during the operation, were subsequently handed over to the relevant community authorities for further necessary action.

The military said the successful operation underscores the determination of troops under Operation Fansan Yamma to protect the lives and property of law-abiding citizens across the Joint Operations Area.

The operation also appreciated members of the public for their continued support and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities in their communities to the nearest security outpost for prompt action.
