Kogi AGILE moves to strengthen digital literacy as project opens bids for education intervention
The Kogi State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project has taken another step towards strengthening digital literacy and improving learning opportunities for adolescent girls with the opening of bids for the implementation of its Digital Literacy intervention under Sub-Component 2.2(b).
The bid opening exercise, held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at the AGILE office in Lokoja, formed part of the project’s procurement process aimed at supporting the acquisition of digital skills and expanding technology-enabled learning opportunities for adolescent girls in Kogi State.
Speaking at the exercise, the State Project Coordinator of Kogi AGILE, Alhaji Ahmed Tijani Oricha, emphasised the importance of digital literacy in preparing young people, particularly adolescent girls, for the demands of an increasingly technology-driven world.
He explained that digital literacy had become an essential component of modern education, providing students with opportunities to acquire relevant knowledge, improve their learning experiences and develop skills required for future employment and economic participation.
According to him, the Digital Literacy intervention is expected to contribute to the project’s broader objective of improving secondary education opportunities for adolescent girls and equipping them with skills necessary to compete favourably in the digital age.
Oricha noted that the intervention reflected the commitment of the Kogi State Government, with support from the World Bank, to strengthening educational development and expanding opportunities for adolescent girls across the state.
The Project Coordinator appreciated the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his continued support towards the successful implementation of the AGILE Project.
Oricha equally commended the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Mr. Wemi Jones, for his leadership, guidance and institutional support towards the implementation of the project.
He explained that the Digital Literacy intervention was particularly important because technology was transforming education, communication, innovation and employment opportunities globally.
He stressed the need to ensure that adolescent girls in Kogi State were not left behind in the digital transformation of education.
The Project Coordinator further reiterated the commitment of the State Project Implementation Unit to transparency, fairness, accountability and strict adherence to applicable procurement guidelines.
He assured participating firms that the procurement process would be conducted in accordance with established procedures, while the subsequent evaluation of bids would be based on the criteria contained in the bidding documents.
Oricha emphasised that the exercise was not merely about selecting a service provider but ensuring that the project obtained value for money and delivered quality interventions capable of improving educational outcomes.
He urged participating bidders to cooperate with the procurement team and expressed appreciation for their interest in contributing to the educational development of Kogi State.
The bid opening exercise formed part of the implementation process for Sub-Component 2.2(b), which focuses on digital literacy interventions intended to strengthen learning opportunities and promote the acquisition of relevant digital competencies.
The Kogi AGILE Project reaffirmed its commitment to working with the state government, the Ministry of Education, the World Bank and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of interventions aimed at improving secondary education opportunities for adolescent girls.
The project noted that expanding access to digital learning would help prepare adolescent girls to participate more effectively in education, innovation and the digital economy.
The exercise underscored the importance of transparent procurement processes in delivering quality educational interventions and achieving the development objectives of the AGILE Project in Kogi State.
