President’s assent: Rep. Amos hails Speaker Abbas as Kaduna Polytechnic becomes University
The Member representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Services Committee, Hon. Daniel Amos, has congratulated the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D, GCON, on achieving legislative excellence through the sponsorship and successful passage of the Bill establishing the Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies, Kaduna.
Hon. Amos on Friday described the feat as historic and a demonstration of purposeful leadership, noting that despite his tight schedule and demanding responsibilities as Presiding Officer of the House, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen found time to initiate and diligently pursue this landmark legislation for the educational advancement of Kaduna State and Nigeria at large.
“Speaker Tajudeen’s leadership on this bill demonstrates purposeful commitment to education and national development,” Amos said.
He noted that the Act, which repeals the Federal Polytechnic, Kaduna and upgrades it to the Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies, Kaduna, will reposition technical and vocational education, promote skills development, and accelerate national development.
Hon. Amos also expressed profound appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for granting Presidential Assent to the Bill, alongside that of the Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies, Yaba, Lagos, both sponsored by the Honourable Speaker.
He described the assent as a clear testament to the President’s commitment to educational reform and human capital development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He congratulated the good people of Kaduna State, the management, staff and students of the former Federal Polytechnic, Kaduna, and assured that the House of Representatives will continue to support the smooth take-off of the new University.
The passage of the bill into law is expected to unlock federal funding, expand degree programmes, strengthen research capacity and improve graduate employability in Kaduna State and the surrounding region
