The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke; and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo as state coordinators in its expanded presidential campaign council for the 2027 general election, despite their affiliations with other political parties.

Under the revised arrangement, Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will coordinate President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory.

Adeleke, who won the Osun governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party, has been named campaign coordinator for Osun State, while Soludo, a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), will oversee the campaign in Anambra State.

The expanded campaign council is scheduled for inauguration by President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday.

The appointments have drawn attention to the APC’s decision to assign campaign responsibilities to prominent political figures who belong to other parties.

Akpabio, Abbas, AbdulRazaq Get New Roles

The APC initially unveiled its presidential campaign council on August 22, naming former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari as Director-General.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were initially appointed deputy director-generals.

Under the revised structure, Akpabio, Abbas and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq have been named Deputy Vice-Chairmen I, II and III, respectively.

Buni has been designated Deputy Director-General I for the North.

The council also features former governors, party chieftains and other prominent figures as advisers.

Those listed include former APC National Chairmen Adebisi Akande and Abdullahi Adamu; former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun; former Osun State Governor Iyiola Omisore; Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo; Senator George Akume; former Ogun State Governor Segun Osoba; and Wale Edun.

Obafemi George has been listed as an adviser on media matters.

Faleke to Oversee Election Planning

The revised structure also includes a Directorate of Election Planning, Coordination, Monitoring and Mobilisation established ahead of the 2027 general election.

James Faleke has been appointed Deputy Director-General of the directorate, while Stella Okotete and Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat will serve as Secretary I and Secretary II, respectively.

Audu Maikori is also listed as a secretary.

Other members of the directorate include Soares Omotola, Bashir Dabo, Sheriff Mohammed Usman, Jibrin Bancir, Ayoola Peter Olajolo, Abubakar Sadiq Sada and Princess Folasade Ogunbiyi.

The expanded council forms part of the APC’s preparations for Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027.
