Lagos declares August 20 Public Holiday for Isese Day
The Lagos State Government has declared Wednesday, August 20, 2025, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Isese Day celebration.
In a circular signed by the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, the decision was approved by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as part of the state’s commitment to preserving indigenous culture and supporting traditional institutions.
According to the directive, all public servants are expected to observe the holiday and resume duties on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Isese, a Yoruba word for “tradition,” is commemorated annually to honour the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Yoruba people.
