Alonso blames officiating after Real Madrid fall 2–0 to Celta Vigo
Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has criticised the match officials following his team’s 2–0 loss to Celta Vigo in a heated La Liga encounter on Sunday.
Alonso, speaking after the match, said several key decisions went against Madrid and affected the flow of the game. He argued that the referee failed to control the match properly, especially during crucial moments when his players were pressing for a comeback.
According to the manager, some fouls he believed should have been awarded to Madrid were ignored, while similar incidents favoured Celta. He added that the officiating left his team frustrated and unable to maintain momentum.
Despite dominating possession for large parts of the game, Madrid failed to convert chances, while Celta took advantage of defensive lapses to score their two goals.
Alonso stressed that his comments were not an excuse for the defeat but a call for more consistent refereeing in the league. He urged his players to move on quickly and refocus ahead of their next fixture.
