BREAKING: FG announces Ebola case in FCT, identifies 44 people for contact tracing
The Federal Government has announced a confirmed case of Ebola disease in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, with 44 close contacts identified for tracing to prevent possible further transmission.
The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday following laboratory confirmation of the case.
According to the minister, the identification of the 44 contacts is part of efforts to monitor possible exposure and prevent the spread of the disease.
Contact tracing involves identifying and monitoring people who may have been exposed to an infected person to help detect possible additional cases and limit transmission.
Further details about the confirmed case, including the patient’s condition, possible source of infection and the locations where the contacts may have been exposed, were not immediately available.
The Federal Government is expected to provide additional information as the public health response progresses.
