JUST-IN: Kwankwaso, Makinde meets behind closed doors in Ibadan
Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, at the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Ibadan.
The meeting, which took place away from the public and the media, has sparked political interest across the country. Although no official statement was released after the talks, observers believe the discussion may not be unconnected with early moves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso, who flew the flag of the New Nigeria Peoples Party during the 2023 presidential election, has in recent months been active in political consultations. Makinde, on the other hand, is seen as one of the influential figures within the opposition and a key player in shaping alliances ahead of future elections.
While both leaders have kept silent on the outcome of their discussion, political watchers say the visit signals possible realignments as politicians begin underground strategies for 2027.
Observers note that such high-profile engagements between prominent political figures often signal strategic alliances, consultations, or planning ahead of key electoral contests.
