Celebrating Hon Emmanuel Ironbar: An exceptional leader with the Midas Touch
There are leaders whose influence is felt not merely through the offices they occupy, but through the lives they touch and the opportunities they create. Hon. Chief Dr Emmanuel Ironbar, Chief of Staff to the Governor of Cross River State, stands tall among such rare individuals, an exceptional leader whose presence inspires confidence, loyalty and progress.
My first encounter with him remains vivid. I was introduced to him by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Chief Boniface Okache, at a time when they both served as Director-General and Deputy Director-General respectively of the formidable campaign group, The Prince Is Coming. From that moment, he not only acknowledged me but continued, over time, to recognise my contributions as part of the Abuja media front, an uncommon trait in leaders of his stature.
I recall, with a sense of pride, a particular moment during the golden jubilee celebration of the immediate past Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, Political Evangelist Alphonsus Ogar Eba, Esq., JP. On that occasion, he cheerfully pointed me out while in conversation with the respected High Chief Higgins Peters. It was a simple gesture, yet profoundly reflective of his humility and attentiveness to people.
That same spirit of recognition and empowerment came to the fore in July last year. Having requested my details and credentials, it was not long before my appointment as Senior Special Assistant on Media Data Analytics to the Governor was announced. His confidence in my ability remains one of the defining moments of my professional journey.
More recently in Abuja, he entrusted me with a media-related assignment. Upon completion, and in his characteristic manner of encouraging excellence, he expressed his satisfaction by describing me as “Ebriku, the Media Guru.” Such words, coming from a leader of his depth and experience, speak volumes about his ability to motivate and inspire those around him.
Today, as he marks his birthday anniversary, I join countless others in celebrating a man of uncommon kindness, humane disposition, forthrightness and deep knowledge of governance and human relations. He is, without doubt, a leader one can work with, and one under whom progress is not merely a promise, but a consistent reality.
Happy birthday to a master strategist, a “seven-star civilian general”, and a distinguished leader whose brilliance continues to shine like a great candelabrum.
Hon. Chief Dr Emmanuel Ironbar is, indeed, a man with the Midas touch.
