President Bola Tinubu will on July 13 publicly unveil a book of tributes titled “Tributes and Condolences in Honour of Muhammadu Buhari” as part of activities marking the first anniversary of the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The announcement was made on Wednesday in Abuja by the Central Planning Committee for the one-year remembrance, prayers, and supplications in honour of the late former president.

Speaking at a news conference, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Boss Mustapha, said the commemorative programme would primarily feature interfaith and interdenominational prayers, reflecting the values of unity, faith, and national cohesion that Buhari upheld throughout his life and public service.

“The programme will consist principally of interfaith and interdenominational prayers, reflecting the values of unity, faith, and national cohesion that he upheld throughout his life and his service to our country,” Mustapha said.

He explained that the event would bring together members of Buhari’s family, friends, associates, public officials, and well-wishers to celebrate his life and pray for the repose of his soul.

According to Mustapha, a select number of individuals who worked closely with the late president will deliver reflections on his historical legacy and share personal experiences from their time with him.

He said the tribute book captures condolence messages from across the world following Buhari’s death.

“In its pages, the global community, including heads of state, diplomats, and political leaders, remembered the late President as a man of simplicity, resilience, and integrity,” he said.

Mustapha recalled that Buhari’s passing at the age of 82 on July 13 last year attracted tributes from world leaders and admirers who praised his humility, discipline, and commitment to public service.

He clarified that the publication is neither intended for sale nor fundraising.

“It is neither for sale nor for fundraising. It is for free distribution,” he said.

He added that religious leaders from different faiths and denominations would lead special prayers during the remembrance ceremony.

Mustapha expressed optimism that the occasion would not only preserve Buhari’s legacy but also provide comfort to his family, friends, supporters, and Nigerians who continue to cherish his contributions to the country.

“Our hope is that the occasion will not only honour the memory of the late President but also serve as a source of comfort and encouragement to his family, his friends, his admirers, and the entire people of this country who continue to cherish his worthy legacy of service to the nation,” he said.

He also appealed to the media to help publicise the event and encourage Nigerians to remember the late former president through prayers in their various places of worship.
