President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Muslims across Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration, urging them to reflect on and practise the teachings and virtues of Prophet Muhammad.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the President said the celebration should go beyond commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet and provide an opportunity for Muslims to engage in prayer, introspection and reflection on his exemplary life.

Tinubu highlighted devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness as some of the virtues Muslims and other Nigerians could learn from the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad.

“The Muslim faithful should make deliberate effort to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet,” the President said.

He urged Islamic scholars and other religious leaders to use the occasion to pray for Nigeria and encourage their followers to translate the lessons of the Prophet’s life into their daily commitment to the country.

The President also called on Muslims celebrating the occasion to extend support and kindness to the less privileged, particularly vulnerable Nigerians, in keeping with the spirit of the Maulud celebration.

Tinubu further urged Nigerians to pray against insecurity and other challenges affecting parts of the country, stressing the importance of peace, compassion and unity during the celebration.
