APC hails Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s defection, vows full integration
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially welcomed the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, into its ranks, assuring him and his supporters of complete acceptance within the party’s structure.
In a statement issued on Wednesday night, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the governor’s defection as a significant development, noting that Delta State is now well-positioned to actively support President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, CON, is highly elated by the decision of the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Sheriff Oborevwori, to join our great Party, alongside notable leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, including former Governor of Delta State and PDP’s vice-presidential candidate in the 2023 election, His Excellency Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, senior officials, lawmakers, local government chairmen, councilors, and other PDP members,” the statement read.
Morka assured that the APC would offer its full cooperation and integration to the governor and the defecting PDP leaders and members, adding that this move further strengthens the party’s growing influence in Delta State.
“With this move, coming on the heels of steady defections from the PDP to the APC across the state, including members of the Delta Unity Group in Ika federal constituency, we are delighted that Delta State, now an APC state, stands poised to contribute maximally to the success and realization of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and to the enduring good and prosperity of Deltans and all Nigerians,” Morka stated.
