African Praise Sunday: Bishop Kate Kawas Declares Praise a Weapon of Warfare ( VIDEO)
Bishop Dr. Kate Kawas, proprietress of Lekced International School and leader of World Harvest Ministries has urged Christian faithful to make time for heartfelt, powerful praise to God
Dr Kawas gave the admonition during a Sunday service themed “Let the High Praises of God Be in Our Mouth.”
The praise service was led by Minister Nene OlaJide, and the room was filled with joy and celebration as worshippers responded with heartfelt songs and dance.
Dr. Kawas read and described Psalm 149:6–8 as a powerful declaration of what praise and worship can accomplish.
“Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand; To execute vengeance upon the nations, and punishments upon the people; To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; To execute upon them the judgment written. Praise ye the LORD.”
She said the passage shows that praise is not merely worship but also a spiritual weapon able to overcome adversity.
To illustrate, she cited 2 Chronicles 20:21, recalling how King Jehoshaphat faced a vast army, positioned singers and worshipers before the troops, and then watched God fight the battle and bring victory. “Praise is the weapon of warfare,” she declared.
Breaking stereotypes about praise, Dr. Kawas emphasized its strategic purpose: “We are not just dancing to be entertained but going for warfare.”
She prophesied freedom and deliverance, telling congregation , “Today as we praise God I see every captivity be set free and God will fight all battles.”
She also urged tue church not to take life for granted, reminding them of God’s sustaining goodness.

“We are sitting here strong and healthy, do you not know what God has done for you?” she concluded
The service marked the maiden edition of African Praise Sunday and featured cultural presentations from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
