After Meeting Tinubu, Adeleke Pays Visit to Wike in Abuja
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday visited the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as he continued his consultations in Abuja following his re-election.
The meeting came shortly after Adeleke held a closed-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
A photograph of Adeleke’s meeting with Wike was shared on X by the minister’s media aide, Lere Olayinka. In the picture, both politicians were seen holding the governor’s certificate of return as they shook hands.
Olayinka captioned the photograph: “Governor Ademola Adeleke visits the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.”
Adeleke arrived at the Presidential Villa earlier in the day, where he met with Tinubu and presented his certificate of return following his victory in the August 15 Osun State governorship election.
The governor, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after securing 511,067 votes.
He defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
Adeleke won in 19 of Osun State’s 30 local government areas, giving him a margin of 66,252 votes.
Speaking with State House correspondents after his meeting with Tinubu, Adeleke commended the President for what he described as his respect for the democratic process.
The governor said his visit to the Presidential Villa was primarily to appreciate Tinubu for allowing the election to proceed without interference.
“Yeah, that is why I’m here to thank Mr. President, the father of the nation, because he fought for this democracy.
“That is why he allowed free and fair election, and that is the result. That is why I’m here, to say thank you to ensure that democracy lives in Nigeria,” Adeleke said.
His subsequent meeting with Wike forms part of a series of engagements by the governor in Abuja following his successful bid for a second term in office.
