APC denies viral ‘price list’ for 2027 nomination forms, labels report fake
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed a viral report circulating on social media which purportedly outlines the cost of its expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the report as false and misleading, insisting that it did not originate from the party.
“The APC states categorically that the report is fake, and did not emanate from the party,” Morka said, stressing that no official decision has been taken regarding the pricing or sale of nomination forms for the next electoral cycle.
He further clarified that the party has neither deliberated on nor announced any figures, urging members, media organisations, and the general public to disregard the viral claims.
The rebuttal follows widespread circulation of a WhatsApp message alleging that the APC had fixed the cost of its presidential nomination and expression of interest forms at ₦200 million, while forms for State Assembly aspirants were pegged at ₦20 million.
The party’s swift denial comes against the backdrop of past controversies surrounding the high cost of nomination forms.
During the 2023 elections, the APC drew criticism after pegging its presidential nomination form at ₦100 million, sparking debates about inclusivity and the financial barriers to political participation in Nigeria.
