BREAKING: 68 Passengers escape unhurt as Enugu Airlines plane crash-lands in Benin
No fewer than 68 passengers escaped unhurt on Thursday after an Enugu Airlines aircraft crash-landed at the Benin Airport in Edo State.
The aircraft, with registration number 5N-ENR, was reportedly operating an Enugu–Benin–Lagos commercial flight when the incident occurred.
According to a source at the Benin Airport, the aircraft overshot the runway during landing and veered into a nearby bush.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) responded immediately to the incident and safely evacuated all passengers from the aircraft.
“There was no loss of life or injury. FAAN officials quickly mobilised to the scene and evacuated all the passengers safely,” the source said.
Although the aircraft was carrying 68 passengers, the exact number of crew members on board could not be immediately confirmed.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the cause of the incident, while further details are expected as investigations continue.
