Ebonyi LG Poll: APC Sweeps All 13 Chairmanship, 171 Councillorship Seats

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a sweeping victory in the Ebonyi State local government elections, winning all 13 chairmanship and 171 councillorship seats contested in the exercise.

The results were announced by the Chairman of the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC), Patrick Enyi, at the commission’s office on Onwe Road, Abakaliki.

Among the newly elected chairmen is Osborn Nweze Umahi, son of the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, who emerged winner of the Ohaozara Local Government Area chairmanship election.

Other candidates declared winners include Peace Agwu of Ishielu, Paul Ituma of Ohaukwu, Friday Nwuhuo of Ezza North, Chinedu Mkpuma of Ezza South and Chidi Nwode of Ikwo.

Also declared elected were Timothy Nwachi of Afikpo, Ikechukwu Ogbofia of Onicha, Michael Kalu Anyim of Ivo, Simeon Onuoha of Edda, Helen Aduga of Izzi, Chidiebere Alo of Abakaliki and Chibueze Odigwe of Ebonyi Local Government Area.

Enyi described the election as peaceful, free and fair, adding that other political parties participated in the exercise.

He commended voters for exercising their constitutional rights and praised security agencies for maintaining peace and providing security throughout the process.

Speaking after his declaration, Umahi commended EBSIEC for what he described as the transparent and peaceful conduct of the election.

The Ohaozara chairman-elect pledged to focus his administration on rural development, youth empowerment and agricultural transformation.

APC celebrates sweeping victory

The APC Chairman in Ebonyi State, Stanley Okoro Emegha, described the party’s victory as evidence of its strong political presence across the state.

Emegha said the result reflected what he described as the growing acceptance of the APC among Ebonyi residents.

He expressed confidence that the party would build on the victory and secure another strong performance in the 2027 general elections.

The result gives the APC control of all 13 local government councils in Ebonyi State, following the conclusion of the council elections.
