FCT Police relaunches joint security operation “Operation Sweep FCT”
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, together with other security agencies, has reactivated the joint security initiative codenamed “Operation Sweep FCT.”
The operation was officially relaunched on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, under the strong guidance of His Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, whose dedication to residents’ safety has strengthened collaboration among security agencies across the territory.
Prior to deployment, the Heads of Security Agencies addressed personnel at Eagle Square, highlighting the renewed mandate for proactive, intelligence-led, and highly visible security operations.
Operation Sweep FCT is aimed at deterring criminal activities, enhancing visibility policing, and ensuring swift, coordinated responses to security threats. Participating agencies include:
1. Nigeria Police Force (FCT Command)
2. Nigerian Army
3. Nigerian Air Force
4. Nigerian Navy
5. Department of State Services (DSS)
6. Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)
7. Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)
8. Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)
9. Federal Fire Service
10. National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)
11. Directorate of Road Traffic Services (VIO)
12. Development Control
13. Environmental Enforcement and Monitoring Teams
14. Other supporting security, emergency, and regulatory agencies
To ensure effective coverage, the territory has been divided into strategic sectors for rapid deployment, increased patrols, and a strong multi-agency presence across all districts and communities.
The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged residents to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and to report any suspicious activities through the emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08061581938.
