FCT Police thwart kidnapping in Bwari, One Officer killed in line of duty
The FCT Police Command successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt in Guto Village, Bwari Area Council, in the early hours of 20 November 2025, though tragically, one officer lost his life in the operation.
At around 1:10 a.m., the Command received a distress call reporting that about 30 armed attackers had invaded the community to abduct a resident and his family. The Bwari Division Surveillance Team, in coordination with the IGP Special Intervention Squad (SIS), promptly responded to the incident.
Upon arrival, the attackers opened fire, prompting a fierce exchange. The police neutralized two assailants, while the remaining attackers fled into nearby bushes and hills. Unfortunately, one officer sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at Bwari General Hospital. The Command mourned the loss, describing it as paying the “supreme price” in the line of duty.
The FCT Police Commissioner, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has deployed additional personnel to secure the community, and normalcy has been restored. A detailed investigation has been ordered to apprehend the fleeing perpetrators.
