Gov. Bago Attends Funeral of In-Law, Alhaji Umaru Baba Chegungi, in Minna

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, on Saturday joined hundreds of sympathisers at the funeral prayer of his in-law, Alhaji Umaru Baba Abubakar Chegungi, in Minna.

The funeral prayer was held at the Minna Central Mosque and led by the Chief Imam of Minna, Malam Isah Jibril.

Among the dignitaries who attended the ceremony were the Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba; Shaba Nupe, Abdullahi Manko, who represented the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar; the Emir of Minna, Umar Faruk Bahago; and the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman.

The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Muktar Mahia, was also present, alongside members of the House of Representatives representing Bida/Gbako/Katcha and Kontagora/Wushishi/Mariga/Mashegu Federal Constituencies, Abdullahi Idris Garba and his colleague, respectively.

Following the funeral prayer, the remains of the deceased were laid to rest at the Kpakungu Muslim Cemetery, where Governor Bago joined other sympathisers in the burial rites.

The governor prayed for Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and grant him eternal rest in Aljannat Firdausi.

The Chief Imam, Malam Isah Jibril, also offered prayers for the repose of the deceased’s soul and those of other departed Muslims.
