I want Regina Daniels alive, healthy to raise her children — Ned Nwoko speaks again on rehab
Senator Ned Nwoko has stated that his wife, actress Regina Daniels, must undergo a rehabilitation program to address drug-related issues, safeguard her health, and ensure she can raise their two children in a safe environment.
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Sunday, Nwoko explained that his call for rehab is based on alarming toxicology reports he presented, which revealed the presence of multiple substances at potentially harmful levels.
He described how Daniels’ previously calm demeanor has recently shifted, exhibiting violent and destructive behavior amid recurring health crises.
> “I want her alive and healthy, not just for me, but for our children. We have two young kids together, and they cannot fight for themselves, and I’m going to fight for them by safeguarding their mother,” Nwoko said.
The lawmaker revealed that over the past eight months, he had to intervene on multiple occasions, even carrying her unconscious to Nizamiye Hospital following drug overdoses. He emphasized that rehabilitation would prevent her from accessing drugs while completing treatment.
> “Many people have died of drug overdose, and if anything happens to her now, what will I tell her children tomorrow?” he asked.
Addressing critics, Nwoko urged those questioning his claims, including Daniels’ family members, to allow independent toxicology tests. He even offered to cover the cost of tests conducted by any toxicologist inside or outside Nigeria to confirm the findings.
He also alleged that Daniels’ siblings, particularly her elder brother Sammy, and some friends, have negatively influenced her and sabotaged her recovery by supplying drugs.
> “Imagine the pain of a husband trying to help his wife recover from an addiction, only to have the process sabotaged by her siblings and friends. Each time progress was made, they would undo it by smuggling in the same drugs she was fighting to give up,” Nwoko said.
The controversy began publicly when Daniels accused Nwoko of physical abuse and declared she could no longer endure the marriage. Nwoko, however, denied these allegations, attributing her actions and behavior to substance abuse rather than marital discord.
On another matter, Nwoko expressed outrage over a social media claim by Daniels’ mother, Rita Daniels, suggesting that his late son in the United Kingdom died of a drug overdose. He condemned the claim as an “inhuman attack,” noting that no autopsy confirmed drug-related complications.
Nwoko concluded by urging all parties to focus on Daniels’ health and recovery, emphasizing that proper rehabilitation is necessary to ensure she can care for their children in a safe and stable environment.
