JUST-IN: Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs Yusuf Sununu resigns
The Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Yusuf Tanko Sununu, has resigned from his position to pursue a political career in Kebbi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sununu confirmed his resignation on Monday, stating that his decision was in line with regulations requiring political appointees seeking elective office to step down.
The former federal lawmaker, who represented Shanga, Yauri, and Ngaski Federal Constituency, is reportedly preparing to contest for the Kebbi South Senatorial District seat.
Before his role at the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Sununu served as Commissioner for Education in Kebbi State and was later redeployed to the humanitarian ministry, where he oversaw initiatives aimed at poverty reduction and social support.
He is widely credited with implementing impactful projects during his time in public office, contributing to social development and improving the welfare of residents in the state.
