Rendering service: Your ladder to Greatness!

Published

on

True greatness in life lies in rendering service because the path to ascension begins with humility. Certain heights you can never reach on your own and individuals you may never encounter unless you cultivate a servant’s heart—serving your leader, employer, or anyone in authority over you with loyalty and dedication.

Humility must be a deliberate choice. By maintaining a modest view of yourself, you pave the way to becoming esteemed and admired by others. Some people may look down on you or even belittle you as you serve, but you must rise above their shortsightedness. Remember, their opinions do not define you and certainly do not reflect what God has planned for you. Greatness resides within you!

A mentor is crucial—someone to guide, teach, and coach you. There is no such thing as a self-made individual. Every person who has achieved success has been shaped by God and others. Often, God provides opportunities for service as part of His plan for your life. It is up to you to recognise these opportunities and seize them. Service is not optional; it is essential.

There is no such thing as an instant master. To rise to positions of leadership, you must first prove yourself through service. Until your dedication to service is recognised, you cannot earn the approval needed for leadership. Many people fail to understand the value of service, whether in schools, homes, or multinational organisations. They aspire to greatness without first humbly serving those who are already established in their chosen fields.

In some households, young people wrongly assume it is their right to be cared for by their parents or guardians. They fail to show appreciation for the sacrifices being made on their behalf. Some resist doing small chores for their parents during holidays, seeing such acts as beneath them.

Similarly, young people supported by individuals other than their parents often miss opportunities to express gratitude through simple acts of service. Instead, they may develop a sense of entitlement, believing they deserve the assistance they receive. Such attitudes are a quick path to losing the opportunities and favour that God has bestowed upon them. It is important to remember that many young people are not so fortunate. Countless others live in dire conditions, with no one to support them. If someone is taking care of you, don’t they deserve your honour and gratitude? Reflect on this.

Married couples should also make a conscious effort to appreciate each other’s sacrifices in maintaining the home. Gratitude breeds motivation; when you acknowledge someone’s efforts, they are inspired to do even more.

Take a moment to appreciate the people in your life who have supported you and made your life more comfortable. Honour them and look for ways to serve them sincerely, even if only in small ways. These gestures, though seemingly insignificant, are often the most impactful. Cultivate a servant’s heart and embrace the opportunity to render true service. This is the ladder to lasting and meaningful greatness in life.
