Super Falcons set for Cape Verde friendlies in Ogun ahead of WAFCON 2026
Nigeria’s Super Falcons will face the Cape Verde women’s national team in two international friendly matches as part of preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The matches will be held at the Remo Stars Stadium, with fixtures scheduled for April 15 and April 18, 2026. Both encounters are expected to serve as crucial build-up games for the continental tournament.
The Super Falcons, widely regarded as Africa’s most successful women’s football team, will use the friendlies to assess squad depth, improve team cohesion, and provide opportunities for both experienced players and emerging talents.
Historically, Nigeria has maintained a strong record against Cape Verde. During the qualifiers for the 2023 WAFCON, the Falcons secured a 2-1 away victory before sealing qualification with a commanding 5-0 win at home.
The team is expected to commence camping in Abuja ahead of the fixtures before travelling to Ikenne for the matches.
Football enthusiasts in Ogun State and neighbouring areas are anticipated to troop out in large numbers to support the team as it intensifies preparations for another continental campaign.
