Woman found dead in Osogbo church with wrist severed
An unidentified woman has been found dead inside a church premises in the Obelewo area of Osogbo, Osun State, with her left wrist reportedly severed.
The discovery prompted police detectives to visit the scene, where preliminary investigations indicated that the woman had allegedly been slaughtered before her wrist was cut off and taken away by unknown persons.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Ani Iniedu, disclosed the development in a statement on Sunday, saying the circumstances surrounding the killing and the motive of the perpetrators remained unclear.
According to him, efforts were ongoing to identify the deceased and determine what led to her death.
“The investigations revealed that the deceased was slaughtered and her left wrist severed and taken away by unknown persons,” Iniedu said.
The corpse was subsequently evacuated and deposited at a hospital mortuary for autopsy as the police commenced a detailed investigation into the incident.
The State Command Investigation Department is currently handling the case, while detectives are working to establish the identity of the deceased and identify those responsible for the killing.
