Zenith Bank to Launch Maiden Girl-Child Empowerment Programme on October 12
Zenith Bank Plc is set to launch the maiden edition of its Girl-Child Empowerment Programme, an initiative designed to inspire young girls, build their confidence and equip them with the skills needed to pursue their ambitions.
The virtual event, themed “Banking On Her Tomorrow,” is scheduled for Monday, October 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., a day after the global celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11.
The initiative was conceived by the bank’s Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dame Dr Adaora Umeoji, OON, the first woman to occupy the position in Zenith Bank’s history and an advocate for girls’ education and empowerment.
According to the bank, the programme will feature distinguished experts from various fields who will share insights and practical guidance to help girls navigate their education, careers and personal development.
It is also designed to expose participants to opportunities in skills acquisition, mentorship and leadership while encouraging them to recognise their potential, expand their aspirations and make informed decisions about their futures.
Zenith Bank said the programme would become an annual platform for inspiring and preparing young girls to pursue meaningful opportunities and contribute to society.
Building on Women and Girls’ Empowerment Initiatives
The new programme builds on Zenith Bank’s existing initiatives aimed at supporting women and girls across different stages of their lives.
These include its annual International Women’s Day Seminar, sole sponsorship of the Zenith Women’s Basketball League, the Women of Honour Awards organised in partnership with the Ford Foundation, and the Pad-a-Queen Initiative.
The bank also operates the Z-Woman initiative, which supports women-owned and women-led businesses through specialised funding, capacity building and networking opportunities.
According to the bank, these programmes reflect its broader commitment to promoting inclusion, expanding opportunities for women and girls, and contributing to national development.
Programme Open to the Public
The maiden edition of the Girl-Child Empowerment Programme is open to the public, with girls, parents, educators and other interested participants invited to attend.
Participants can join the virtual event through Zoom, while those unable to access the meeting can watch the livestream on Zenith Bank’s social media platforms.
The initiative is expected to provide a platform for discussions on education, career development, leadership and the opportunities available to young girls as they prepare for the future.
