The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, will head Nigeria’s delegation to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meetings scheduled to begin on Monday, October 13, in Washington, D.C.
President Bola Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development in a statement released on Sunday and made available to Channels Television.
According to the statement, Cardoso, who serves as Nigeria’s alternate governor at the Bretton Woods institutions, will lead the delegation in place of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, who is currently indisposed.
Also on the delegation is the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite.
The World Bank outlined that key activities during the weeklong meetings include the Development Committee Plenary Session on October 16 and the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) meetings on October 17.
Other major events will feature regional briefings, press conferences, and discussions on global economic stability, international development, and financial market trends.
