JUST IN: NECO releases 2025 External SSCE Results

The National Examination Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 External Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

Announcing the development on Monday at the council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State, the Registrar, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, said a total of 96,979 candidates registered for the examination, which covered 16 subjects.

According to him, the registered candidates comprised 51,823 males, representing 53.43 per cent, and 45,156 females, representing 46.56 per cent.

Professor Wushishi disclosed that 95,160 candidates eventually sat for the examination.

He said 93,425 candidates sat for English Language, out of which 73,167 candidates, representing 78.32 per cent, obtained credit and above.

Similarly, he noted that 93,330 candidates sat for Mathematics, with 85,256 candidates, representing 91.35 per cent, securing credit and above.

The NECO registrar further revealed that 68,166 candidates, representing 71.63 per cent, obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.

He added that 82,082 candidates, representing 86.26 per cent, recorded five credits and above, irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.

On examination malpractice, Professor Wushishi disclosed that 9,016 candidates were booked for various infractions, representing a 31.7 per cent increase compared to the 6,160 cases recorded in 2024.

He also announced that five supervisors—two from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and one each from Kano, Adamawa and Ondo States—had been recommended for blacklisting for aiding and abetting examination malpractice.

In addition, the registrar said four examination centres—two in Niger State and one each in Yobe and Kano States—were recommended for de-recognition over involvement in whole-centre malpractice.
