NECO releases 2025 BECE results, announces dates for resit exams
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
In a statement on Wednesday, the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, confirmed that a total of 179,201 candidates registered for the examination, which covered 12 subjects.
While the council did not disclose the overall performance details, it stated that the examination was successfully conducted between May 12 and May 23, 2025.
The results were released following the conclusion of the 2025 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at the council’s headquarters in Minna.
Chairperson of the Award Committee, Dr. Folake Olatunji David, Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, expressed satisfaction with the entire process that led to the smooth release of the results.
NECO also announced that the Award Committee, which included principals from various secondary schools across the country, has approved the date and timetable for the 2025 BECE Re-sit examination.
According to the council, the Re-sit exams for Mathematics and English Studies have been scheduled for July 23 and 24, 2025.
