Uzodimma Warns Imo APC Supporters Against Working With Rainbow Coalition
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has declared that there is no Rainbow Coalition in the state, insisting that members of the All Progressives Congress must work together to secure President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Uzodimma made the declaration on Tuesday during the distribution of campaign vehicles under the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Imo State.
Addressing members of the movement and other APC supporters at the event, the governor said the state had no place for the Rainbow Coalition.
“There is no rainbow coalition in Imo State,” he said.
He warned beneficiaries of the campaign vehicles against working with political groups outside the APC, threatening to withdraw the vehicles from anyone found doing so.
“If I see you walk outside APC, I will collect the vehicle from you. You are here, you are empowered to work for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our All Progressives Congress,” Uzodimma said.
The governor explained that the movement was established to publicise the achievements of Tinubu’s administration and mobilise support for his second term in office.
He said his administration had assessed the President’s performance and resolved to support his re-election, while acknowledging that more work remained to be done.
Uzodimma also commended High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, for providing resources and support for the movement.
Describing the group as a partner in the APC’s mobilisation efforts, the governor pledged cooperation and urged members to support the party’s candidates in the 2027 elections.
He called on supporters to back APC candidates for the House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and governorship, insisting that the party had no alternative in Imo State.
The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement has been touring states to promote Tinubu’s administration and mobilise support for his re-election bid.
Uzodimma’s remarks come amid political differences between some APC governors and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over the Rainbow Coalition, an initiative aimed at mobilising support for Tinubu across party lines.
Wike has maintained that the arrangement is separate from the APC and allows participants to support Tinubu for president while backing candidates from other political parties in governorship and legislative elections.
However, some APC governors have expressed concern that the arrangement could undermine the party’s candidates in the 2027 general election.
Uzodimma, who chairs the Progressive Governors’ Forum, has previously criticised political arrangements he believes could weaken the APC or affect Tinubu’s re-election prospects.
