Family announces funeral arrangements for late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo
The family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has officially released details of his funeral arrangements following his passing at the age of 40.
In a statement shared on the actor’s official Instagram page on Monday, the family described him as a man whose life was defined by love, generosity, faith and warmth, while appreciating fans, colleagues and well-wishers for the overwhelming support received since his death.
“Forever in Our Hearts,” the statement read.
“With profound sorrow, yet gratitude to God for a life so beautifully lived and deeply impactful, we officially announce the funeral arrangements of our beloved husband, son, brother, friend, and colleague, Alexx Ekubo-Okwaraeke.”
The family expressed appreciation for the global outpouring of condolences, saying the messages, visits, prayers and support had provided comfort during a difficult period.
According to the announcement, a service of songs will hold on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at The Monarch Event Center, Lekki, Lagos, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, with guests expected to appear in white attire.
The wake-keep is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 7 Ekubo-Okwaraeke Avenue, Aziukwukwa, Ujari Village, Arochukwu, Abia State, while the funeral service and interment will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village, Abia State.
The family added that the actor lived a life marked by joy, warmth, laughter and devotion, noting that his memory would continue to live on through the lives he touched.
Alexx Ekubo passed away on May 11, 2026, after a prolonged illness, sparking widespread tributes across Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
