The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has applauded the Federal Government and security agencies for the successful rescue of the schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo State.

In a statement issued by its National President, Comrade Aisha Ibrahim, the association described the rescue as a significant victory that has restored hope and strengthened public confidence in Nigeria’s security architecture.

NAWOJ expressed profound appreciation to the Federal Government for its commitment and determination in ensuring the safe release of the victims.

The association also commended the Nigerian Armed Forces, comprising the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Air Force, alongside the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other security and intelligence agencies for what it described as their professionalism, resilience and coordinated operations that made the rescue possible.

NAWOJ equally praised Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for his leadership, cooperation and support throughout the operation, noting that the collaboration between the Federal Government, the state government and security agencies demonstrated the importance of unity in tackling security challenges.

The association said the successful operation reflects the growing capacity and determination of the nation’s security forces to protect lives, secure communities and defend Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

NAWOJ celebrated the safe return of the victims and prayed for their speedy physical, emotional and psychological recovery.

The association also called for sustained and proactive measures to strengthen security, particularly around educational institutions, to ensure schools remain safe environments for learning and development.

It further saluted the courage, professionalism and sacrifices of military personnel and other members of the security and intelligence community, urging continued collaboration towards building a safer and more secure Nigeria.
