FG Lists Five Digital Platforms for N50,000 Cash Support, Warns Against Fraud
The Federal Government has listed five digital banking and mobile money platforms through which selected Nigerians can receive its N50,000 cash support under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI).
Information published on the programme’s website identified ALAT by Wema Bank, MoMo PSB, NairaGram, OPay and Moniepoint as the approved payment providers.
The platforms offer beneficiaries access to their mobile wallets through USSD codes or mobile applications, enabling them to withdraw or spend the funds after payment.
According to the programme’s guidelines, beneficiaries will receive an SMS from their designated payment provider once their wallets have been credited.
Approved payment platforms and access codes
The five listed platforms and their access options are:
– ALAT by Wema Bank: Dial “94523#”.
– MoMo PSB: Dial “6710#”.
– NairaGram: Dial “72600#”.
– OPay: Dial “95520#” or use the OPay application.
– Moniepoint: Dial “557327#” or use the Moniepoint application.
How beneficiaries will receive the N50,000
The NERSI website stated that the cash transfer is intended for poor and vulnerable households, with beneficiaries selected through verified national identity records and the National Social Register.
Under the programme’s guidelines, selected individuals will receive an SMS from one of the five approved payment providers notifying them of their selection.
Recipients are required to reply YES to the message to indicate their consent to participate in the programme.
After confirmation, a mobile wallet linked to the beneficiary’s phone number and National Identification Number (NIN) will be created, and the N50,000 support will be credited to the wallet.
Beneficiaries can withdraw the funds through a point-of-sale (POS) agent or at a bank, or use the money directly from their mobile wallets.
FG warns against fraud
The Federal Government said participation in the programme is free. Beneficiaries are not required to pay any fee, register separately or visit government offices to access the support.
The NERSI website warned Nigerians against fraudsters who may demand money in exchange for facilitating selection or releasing the funds.
It also advised beneficiaries not to disclose their personal identification numbers (PINs), one-time passwords (OTPs) or account passwords to anyone, including agents and government officials.
According to the programme’s guidelines, genuine messages will come only from ALAT, MoMo, NairaGram, OPay or Moniepoint. Beneficiaries will be asked to reply YES or use the designated USSD code provided by their payment provider.
The government further stated that not all eligible households would be included in the first batch, stressing that no one can pay to secure a place on the beneficiary list.
The Humanitarian Assistance Programme is the Federal Government’s shock-responsive cash transfer initiative, administered by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. It is designed to provide financial relief to poor and vulnerable households facing rising living costs.
