Accra secures hosting rights for CAA Zone II U18 and U20 Championships
The inaugural Confederation of African Athletics Zone two Under-18 and Under-20 Championships will now be held in Accra, the capital of Ghana
This decision to relocate the championships to Accra was made by the Executive Committee of the regional athletics body.
President of the Confederation of African Athletics Zone two, Chief Tonobok Okowa, explained that while the event was originally scheduled to take place in Dakar, Senegal, logistical challenges led to the change of venue.
Chief Okowa expressed confidence that Ghana will provide an excellent setting for the young athletes competing for honours in the Under-18 and Under-20 Championships, which will now take place in May or June of this year.
The zonal competition will also serve as qualifiers for the 2025 Confederation of African Athletics Championships for the Under-18 and Under-20 categories. The main event will be held in Oran, Algeria, from 14th to 18th July, 2025.
