AEDC announces power outage across Abuja, Nasarawa over TCN transmission fault
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a widespread power outage affecting parts of the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State following a technical fault on the transmission infrastructure.
The disco disclosed this in a notice issued on Wednesday, explaining that the disruption was caused by a fault on the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) 132kV Apo–Karu–Line 1.
According to AEDC, the fault has led to a collapse in bulk electricity supply to several locations across Abuja and adjoining communities in Nasarawa State.
Affected areas include Karu, Nyanya, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, Mararaba, Ado, New Nyanya, New Karu, Uke, Masaka, Auta Balifi, Keffi, Nasarawa Toto, Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon, and surrounding communities.
The company assured residents that efforts were ongoing to restore supply, noting that TCN technical teams were already working on the affected transmission line.
AEDC said electricity is expected to be restored around 3:00 pm on Tuesday, June 10, 2026, once repairs are completed.
“We regret the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding,” the company stated.
