BREAKING: Peter Obi joins mass protest in Abuja over Real-Time Election Results (Video)
Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Abuja on Monday as former presidential candidate Peter Obi led a renewed push for transparency in Nigeria’s electoral process, intensifying pressure on electoral authorities and raising the political temperature in the nation’s capital.
Obi, accompanied by several supporters including activist Aisha Yesufu, was present at the entrance of the National Assembly, where demonstrators demanded the inclusion of real-time electronic transmission of results from polling units in the Electoral Amendment Bill currently under consideration.
Security personnel, primarily from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other paramilitary agencies, were deployed in strategic locations.
