Cross River Acting Governor announces new appointments, creates Diaspora Commission

The Acting Governor of Cross River State, Rt Hon Peter Odey, has appointed six people from the state to the newly set-up Diaspora Commission.

The announcement was made in a statement from the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nsa Gill, on Thursday and shared with the press.

The statement, titled “Establishment of Cross River State Diaspora Commission and Appointment of Members”, explains that the Commission’s aim is to involve Cross Riverians living abroad in the state’s policies and development projects.

The statement reads: “His Excellency, the Acting Governor of Cross River State, Rt Hon Peter Odey, has approved the appointment of the following persons to the Cross River State Diaspora Commission.

They are: Otu Esu Okor – Chairman; Elizabeth Greene – Secretary; Mr Eyobong Ita – Member; Mr Douglas Agbe – Member; Dr Mrs Maggie Inde – Member; and Mrs Emily Madueke – Member

“The creation of the Cross River State Diaspora Commission aims to connect Cross Riverians overseas with state policies and development projects, using their skills and resources to help improve the socio-economic, cultural, and political development of the state.”

The Commission’s full role will be outlined by the State Planning Commission. Additionally, members are expected to report to the office of the Secretary to the Government of the State for further guidance and documentation.
