The police in Nasarawa State have rescued 23 foreigners who were kidnapped by armed men and arrested 14 suspects linked to the crime.
The victims, said to be from different African countries, were rescued during a special operation by police officers and other security agencies in the state.
According to the state police spokesperson, the victims were held in a forest where the kidnappers demanded ransom before their rescue. He said the police acted on credible intelligence and moved in swiftly to free the captives without anyone getting hurt.
During the operation, 14 suspects were caught, and several dangerous weapons were recovered from them, including guns and ammunition.
The police said all the rescued victims are safe and receiving care, while investigations are ongoing to find other members of the gang still on the run.
The Commissioner of Police praised the officers for their bravery and assured residents that security forces will continue to go after kidnappers and criminals across the state.
