Super Falcons to face Cameroon in pre-WAFCON friendlies
Nigeria’s Super Falcons will face Cameroon women’s national football team in two friendly matches as part of preparations for the 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) scheduled in Morocco.
The matches are slated to hold in Yaoundé on February 28 and March 3, 2026. In a statement, Mohammed Sanusi, General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to ensuring the team is fully prepared.
“We have concluded everything that has to do with the two friendly matches, in conjunction with our counterpart body in Cameroon. Our commitment is to ensure that the Super Falcons are well-prepared to retain their WAFCON title in Morocco and qualify for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in Brazil,” he said.
Similarly, Isaac Mandong, General Secretary of the Cameroon Football Federation, expressed excitement about hosting the Nigerian team, noting that the collaboration would strengthen ties between the two federations.
All four semi-finalists at the WAFCON, set to run from March 17 to April 3, 2026, will qualify directly for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in Brazil. The Super Falcons won their 10th Women AFCON title in Morocco in 2025, continuing their dominance in African women’s football.
